Though no longer in service, Marquette’s Lower Harbor ore dock stands as a lasting reminder to the heydays of iron mining in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. (Mining continues and freighters still sail, but the collect their cargo from the Upper Harbor a few short miles from downtown Marquette.
