Mana's Pike

from $5.00

Inspired by a passage from the Kalevala, Finland’s epic poem:
“Mighty eagle, bird of beauty,
Fly thou whither I direct thee,
To Tuoni’s coal-black river,
To the blue deeps of the Death-stream,
Seize the mighty fish of Mana,
Catch for me this water-monster.”

The image depicts the eagle capturing the pike of Mana, which Ilmarinen must bring to the hostess of the ever-dismal Northland to win the hand of her daughter. He hopes.

Available as 4×6 greeting cards and 16×20 prints (printed on 250g archival paper with 1” border).
